There is no question that this can only be achieved with a consistent and perfectly coordinated workflow, starting with planning and preparation, all the way through to automated production.
When it came to the software to be used by Impresa House for the planning and preparation of the prefab houses, SEMA was the obvious choice, thanks to its experience in wood construction and the prefabricated housing market of more than 30 years. The fully comprehensive SEMA solution for planning and construction in housing and stair design and the sheet metal processing industry, is unique on the market and optimally serves and fulfils Impresa’s software needs.
To meet this purpose, it was also important that planning should go hand in hand with production. On the production side, Impresa has gone for advanced Weinmann systems — a wise and well-considered decision. Because the only way to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow is through the optimally coordinated transfer of construction data from the software to the production machine. In this respect, SEMA and Weinmann are a practically experienced team, thanks to decades of activity in a wide range of operations worldwide.
Within a short period of time, it was possible to set up and commission all the software and machinery for production at Impresa. The company is now a forerunner in the prefabricated housing movement on the Australian construction market, and comprises six prefab housing businesses nationwide. Thanks to the use of lightweight timber framing, Impresa is able to prefabricate a home in the factory according to customer specifications, ship the individual components, and assemble them at the destination. According to Impresa, this process reduces the construction time by more than 50 percent.
This ingenuity was rewarded when Impresa won the “Manufacturing Hall of Fame Award of Defence, Transport and Construction Technologies” in May this year.
