Prefab House Experience Tour 2017

At the end of May, the SEMA company organised their first "Prefab House Experience Tour" across Germany for 15 interested persons from the US, Canada and China. Immediately after the LIGNA fair, the participants toured Germany anticlockwise, from the north-west to the south, to visit historical and cultural sites, as well as some innovative manufacturers of prefabricated houses and machines.

The first place they went was the Petermeier timber construction company in the town of Rietberg, where our guests from overseas and the Far East could get a detailed impression of the processes in one of the local joinery centres. The Petermeier company delivered a remarkable presentation of the Hundegger CNC machines used.

The next weekend was dedicated entirely to culture: On a fantastic summer day, SEMA took their guests to those typical places along the Rhine and Moselle that everyone should see once in their life: Koblenz and the "Deutsches Eck" (where the Moselle joins the Rhine), the fortress of "Ehrenbreitstein", the "Eltz" castle, the Vulcan brewery in Mending and, last but not least, the "must see" of all things: a river tour on the Rhine.

The next week began with a visit to the DFH (Deutsche Fertighaus Holding) in Simmern. The DFH, with its four brands "massa haus", "allkauf", "OKAL" and "EinSteinHaus", produces about 2,900 individual prefabricated houses every year and is, thus, the largest producer of prefabricated houses in Germany.

The next stop was the Fertighaus Weiss company in Oberrot Scheuerhalden, where the interacting of the production planning of the Weiss company with SEMA software was demonstrated to the visitors. The subsequent company tour with perfectly organised production was a real highlight for all participants of the excursion. The sample rooms showed thereinafter were an impressive example of the scope of services offered by the Weiss company to their clients.

Tuesday began with a plant tour of the SEMA partner Weinmann in St. Johann. From small carpentry to large-scale prefabricated house production - the Weinmann Holzbausystemtechnik company covers the entire field of timber construction using its CNC machines. After the plant tour, there was enough time for the visitors to enquire about the products of the Weinmann company in a casual setting with some snacks offered.

The next stop after St. Johann was the visit to the historical roof truss of the basilica in Ottobeuren, on the way to the headquarters of the SEMA company in Wildpoldsried, near Kempten. Here, the participants of the tour enjoyed some delicious typical Bavarian dishes and got the chance to exchange views with the SEMA members of staff and inform themselves about the various SEMA products directly on site in an idyllic landscape.

The last day of the SEMA tour saw a visit to the Regnauer company in Seebruck at Lake Chiemsee. The very informative plant tour and the presentation of the work flow in the field of work preparation with the SEMA Software delivered another impressive insight into the prefabrication possibilities of the German prefab house industry to our guests.

We want to say thank you very much to all customers, colleagues and partners who have opened their doors to us and made an enormous contribution to this tour becoming an unforgettable experience for our guests.

Thank you very much - without your help and support, this tour would never have been possible!
