Reduction and Optimization of Work Steps – for More Quality and Options in Less Time

From Version 24.3 on, SEMA timber construction planning will be even more convenient. The BTL(x) and BVX export has been enhanced to include the ability to export manufacturing information in the form of "User attributes". Further optimization steps facilitate, simplify and accelerate data processing and export. For example, many components can now be changed at once and customers can predefine data storage locations, as well as create and save plans in PDF/A format for the paperless transmission for electronic construction files.

Easy export of manufacturing information: The BTL(x) and BVX export has been enhanced to include the ability to export manufacturing information in the form of so-called “User attributes”. This innovation allows for seamless integration with CAM software and manufacturing machines. Using our program, “User attributes” can be defined and saved directly in the master data record for individual points of intersection as well as for MCAD and 3CAD processing. MCAD refers to CAD objects and 3CAD refers to 3D objects that generate machine processing.  During Single Member processing, an assigned “User attribute” is displayed by “...” behind the processing and can be easily checked, changed or extended with a right click or the Edit menu (Ctrl+Shift+A). The "User attributes" are particularly useful for the BVX export: Here, users can define “StrategyKey” for processing strategies and “Fasteners” for fastening materials. These specific attributes can be used to precisely control and plan the manufacturing processes. Close coordination between CAD, CAM and production machines is required in order to utilize the full potential of the "User attributes". An optimal result is only guaranteed if all systems can use and evaluate these attributes.

BVX export for the optimal production of closing board grooves: A new setting for the machine export ensures the optimal production of closing board grooves during the Hundegger BVX export. Consequently, it is optionally determined up to which width the scarf joints are combined to form closing board grooves.

Accelerated changing of many components (CAD): Projects comprising of many components >50000 (CAD) – especially CAD lines – can now be changed all at once and therefore much faster.

Predefined export path for IFC: Customers decide where they want to store their data. The export path and file name can be predefined in the new tab “IFC” under the pre-settings (Alt+F7) => “Data Import / Export”.

Easy creation of PDFs in PDF/A format: Web-based data platforms for structural engineering verification (e.g. electronic structural engineering test files/BW) require the read-only PDF/A format (= suitable for long-term archiving) for uploading PDFs. This can be easily created via a setting in the general pre-settings (ALT+F7) as of Version 24.3: Simply tick the box in the “Other” tab under “General”. If this tick is removed again, normal PDFs are created.

Convenient standard path for 3D export: This can be set in the general pre-settings (Alt+F7) under the menu item “Data import / export” via the “3D” tab with one click. Further settings determine the standard name of a 3D file, the preferred export format and the individual naming of the components in an exported file. Individual components can also be named quickly and individually by selecting “Own object names” in the placeholder menu.

Inserting MCAD / changing layers more comfortably: Commands for creating or inserting macros will now remain active even if the current layer is changed during execution. The same applies to creating, deleting or renaming layers. This option has been incorporated into the top view as well as into all element views.

Saving the zero point for F10 coverages: Users can now define that the zero point of drawing is no longer updated by the Wall Automatism feature during planking. This is defined in the general pre-settings (Alt+F7) by activating the menu item “Walls / Outline”, tab “Automatic”.

Many small new features, one major goal: Take advantage of these new opportunities and take your manufacturing processes to the next level!
