SEMA celebrates new educational partnership with Nanjing Forestry University

From now on, the renowned and traditional Nanjing Forestry University in China will be teaching on “Planning and Construction with SEMA” as part of an independent module in its academic department for timber construction.

Nanjing Forestry University in eastern China originates from the forestry departments of Jinling University and the Central University. The university was founded in 1902 – then known as Sanjiang College. Nanjing Forestry University acquired its current name in 1985. Today more than 30,000 students are enrolled at the school of forestry.

With the visit of the university, the school was officially authorised to teach on the subject of SEMA software. The syllabus for “Planning and Construction with SEMA” will be taught in its own individual module. SEMA is pleased to be working with Nanjing Forestry University as an education partner.

This first semester of teaching on the SEMA software over 48 tuition periods has already taken place. The subject was taught on-site by our partner, 3E China. All participants received a certificate from SEMA for the successful completion of the course.

The course will be taught by teaching staff at the university starting from next semester. As a symbol of the new partnership and to celebrate the official start of the new degree course, the university was presented with a plaque from SEMA.

The university is a leading institution in the field of timber construction in China. The degree course in “Timber Construction and Engineering” was first offered in 2007, so teaching staff now have eleven years of experience under their belt. During this time, many successful projects have already been implemented and even won awards. In the People's Republic of China, the degree course in planning and timber construction is only offered at three different educational institutions. Among them, the university in Nanjing has the most experience.

Due to government regulations to reduce remissions in the Republic of China, multiple projects are planned to go ahead, in which the field of wood construction will play a major role in future.
